Focus on TLRs

Twin lens reflex cameras have two objective lenses with the same focal length.  One lens is the photographic objective, or "taking lens", while the other lens is used for the viewfinder system.  Double lens cameras were first developed around 1870, and were an evolution in technology because the shooter could focus with one lens without having to change the ground glass screen for the plate.  This allowed for much less down time between shots.

Viewing the image from above with a reflex mirror also allowed the shooter to have a steadier hold on the camera, thus reducing the chance for blurred images.  The quality, mechanical simplicity and vintage style of twin lens reflex cameras allow them to be enjoyed by many photographers and collectors today.

We have several collectible twin lens reflex cameras available on the KEH Camera Outlet on eBay.  We've featured several items of interest below that are currently in stock in our inventory. Click on the name of the item underneath the image to go straight to the listing.
